WAKE UP! Sleeping Church

Look around and you will find that the Church is sleeping, just like all ten virgins slumbered and slept waiting for Christ. It's time to wake up the sleeping Church and start preparing for His soon return.

You may find some of the things on this site uncomfortable, but they are only here to encourage you in your walk with the Lord Jesus. What are you looking for? Are you looking for a comfortable religion, where you can carry on with your old way of life? Are you looking for someone to tell you that it's ok to carry on sinning? I hope not, instead I hope you are seeking to further your relationship with Jesus Christ your Saviour, no matter what the cost. I hope you are finding out how you can worship God in spirit and truth.

Let me ask you a question: What is the purpose of our lives? .... Did you answer correctly? Did you say "to serve, obey and glorify God"?
Then why is it we spend so little time with Him?

Hebrews 12:6-8 ...'For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.' ... God corrects those He loves, and if you receive correction, then you are a son of God. But if you are not willing to receive correction for the way you are living and reject God's instruction and correction, then He will reject you.

"Oh, but I'm under grace now not under law!" is the quote we hear so often today. If you believe that being under grace means you can carry on with a worldly life, then you have a problem. There are so many Christians who think this way. They believe that as soon as they accept Jesus, they are saved and cannot be lost, therefore they can carry on with their old way of life. This is not Christianity. If you think this way, then I urge you to open your Bible and start studying for yourself.

See THIS STUDY for more about being under grace, not law.

Just look at what Jesus went through for us, because of our sinful ways ...

Matthew 26:38-39 ...'My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.'

Luke 22:44 ...'And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.'

Mark 14:65 ...'And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him.'

Matthew 27:29 ...'And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head.'

Matthew 27:30 ...'And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.'

John 18:22 ...'one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand.'

John 19:1 ...'Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.'

Luke 22:63-65 ...'And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face .... And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.'

John 19:17-18 ...'And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him.'

This is the Son of God, and LOOK what they did to Him!

Look at what Jesus went through for you. In the garden of Gethsemane, Christ JesusHe even sweated blood. Did you know that sweating blood is a known medical issue? It is called 'Hematidrosis' and it is caused by great stress, where blood vessels contract, and then rupture, causing blood to come out through the pores. Jesus was under so much stress, bearing the weight of the sin of the world, which causes separation from God ... Isaiah 59:2 ...'But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.' ... Jesus knew that He would be separated from His Father because of our sins that He bore, which is why, on the cross Jesus cried out, 'My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?' I hope you are beginning to see what Jesus did for you? I hope that you are not going to say so cheaply, like so many other professing Christians do ... "Well, I'm under grace, so it's ok". It's time to wake up sleeping church, to take up your cross and live every moment for Christ.

What do you think God means when He says He is seeking those who worship in spirit and truth? Do you think He looks down on us and says, "well, they believe in My Son Jesus, they don't spend much time with Me, but they are now under grace, so they are ok"? No, He is 'seeking' for those who are living a true loving relationship with their Lord and Saviour every hour of the day. Let me share with you a sad fact about the time we waste:

The average home has the television turned on for about 5-6 hours a day. Now if you think that the average Christian works, then that would mean they have about 6 hours spare time each day (if they went to bed at about 11pm). Take those hours of tv away from the 6 hours of spare time, and what is left to spend with God? Not a lot!! And that's just from the influence of TV. What about playing video games, listening to secular music, or doing mindless things on the internet, or reading novels, or going out for a meal, or to the cinema? Where is Jesus in all of this? Do you think God is happy when He looks down on you and sees you doing all these things, and you haven't got time for Him? What about the sin you watch on tv? Would you happily keep company with murderers, adulterers, liars, cheats, drunkards, ildolaters and the such? Because that is EXACTLY what you are doing, when you sit yourself in front of those worldly tv programs. The church is sleeping, there is no doubt.

Why is it that Bible study seems so boring to people these days? Because Satan has filled our lives with television and blockbuster movies, and all the sensual pleasures of the world!

Worship the TVLet me give you a friendly warning, because it's really time to wake up the sleeping church: Do whatever it takes to change your lifestyle, so that you are spending more time with God, than on other things. If it means you have to throw your TV out, then do it. If it means you have to throw the playstation out, then do it. If it means you have to put those novels away, then do it. Then you can get your Bible out and study the Word of God. You can get on your knees and pray. You can sit down at the table and have nice family meals, talking with each other. You can go out for nice walks and enjoy God's creation. You can be a witness for Jesus to others. Do these things, seek the Lord with all your heart and soul, and your life will take on a whole new meaning. Stop trying to please the world and yourself, and focus on pleasing God.

"Start living life, rather than watching it!"

1 John 5:19 ...'And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.' ... Are you still trying to be a friend of the world? If you are, then you are trying to be a friend of satan, because he is the god of this world ... James 4:4 ...'Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.' ... A true Christian cannot be a friend of this world. A true Christian MUST be seeking to separate themselves from this world, and the things of the world. The Bible is very clear on this. Wake up sleeping church! Wake up!

I came across an article on the internet from a non Christian, which was asking the question of "Why do Christians watch films and tv shows that are against their beliefs?" Do you know what one of the answers were? "Because they are hypocrites!" Is that how you want the world to perceive your faith? The world is laughing at professed Christians who continue in sin. And if the world is mocking your hypocrisy because of the way you live, then they are mocking God at the same time. Do you fear God with Godly fear? If not, then it's about time you did ... Proverbs 16:6 ...'By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.' ... For some reason, the Christian world is full of people who claim there is no need in fearing God, and therefore fail to give Him the reverence He deserves and COMMANDS. Click on the link and take a look at all the Bible verses which say otherwise. We are not to fear the world, but we are to fear and respect our God and Creator. But don't confuse this issue with our love for God. We serve God out of love for Him, not out of fear, but this shouldn't stop us from giving Him all the reverence and Godly fear for who He is.

Romans 12:2 ...'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.' ... How can this be achieved in you, if you don't spend any time with Jesus? How can this be achieved in you if you are happy to watch the filth and sin displayed on your TV, or games, or internet? For your mind to be renewed like Christ's, you need to separate yourself from these worldly things. If we truly put on the mind of Christ, then we would not want to partake in any of the worldly things that satan has to offer.

"Whom have I in Heaven but Thee? There is none upon the earth I desire beside Thee."

Please allow me to be bold, only to encourage you away from this world. If you are a professing Christian, and you say you wouldn't know what you would do if television, games, sport, cinema, and novels were taken off you, then you need to wake up and reconsider what Christ did for you. You may think you would find it hard to give up a few simple worldly pleasures for Christ, but remember, Christ gave up His glorious Heavenly home with His Father to save you from your sin. Surely a true Christian would find perfect joy in spending time with Christ Jesus and nothing else. Please take your mind off this world and place it fully on Christ. This life lasts for just a moment. Why risk losing eternity for the few simple worldly pleasures this life has to offer? Be a true Christian and stand up for what is right. Stand up for Christ.

Matthew 7:21 ...'Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.' ... Are you performing God's will in your life? Or have you let satan deceive you, by thinking you can do what you want and still be saved? We are living in the end times, as the signs of the end times reveal, which means that Christ Jesus will return soon. Are you preparing yourself for the second coming? Will you be ready? There are two rewards, eternal life with Jesus, or the lake of fire. The choice is yours.

I plead with you to wake up and give your all to Jesus and worship Him in spirit and truth and live for Him every moment.
