What is the Gospel of Christ Jesus?

What is the gospel is one of those questions that sounds easy enough to answer, but many people get stuck and are not sure what to say when they are asked, including myself, until I studied it properly. So hopefully, after reading this page and studying it for yourself in God's Word, you will be able to confidently answer the question; "what is the gospel?".

Is it important to know what the gospel is? Yes, take a look at what it says in Galatians 1:6-7 ...'I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.' ... So there has been another gospel being preached since early times, and we can all see and hear "other" gospels being preached in churches around the world. So we must know what the TRUE gospel of Christ Jesus is, so that we are not deceived by the enemy.

So what is the gospel, the TRUE gospel of Christ Jesus? ... Romans 1:16 ...'For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.' ... So the gospel of Christ Jesus is salvation unto all who believe on Jesus and follow Him. This is the good news that is preached. But what is salvation? What are we saved from?

Matthew 1:21 ...'And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.' ... The power of God unto salvation is being saved from our sins. Do you notice that the gospel is man being saved FROM his sins? Not saved IN his sins. Did you catch that? Right from the start we can see that there is "another" gospel being preached around the world today, as many professing Christians are taught that Jesus saves them IN their sins, meaning that they believe they are still saved even if they carry on living a worldly sinful life. This is NOT the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus is the power to save people FROM sin.

So what does it mean to be saved FROM sin? Well, what does Paul say in the book of Romans about sin? ... Romans 6:23 ...'For the wages of sin is death.' ... And as we have all sinned, then we are all under the death penalty. So if Jesus came to save us FROM sin, then He came to save us FROM the death penalty. Do you see this? He didn't come to save us and enable us to CONTINUE in sin, He came to give us victory OVER it, so that sin does not reign in our lives anymore, which means that death no more reigns in our lives. This is so important to understand, because there are so many professing christians out there who think it is ok to carry on living a worldly sinful life.

Romans 6:16 ...'Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? ... Those professing christians who think it ok to carry on living in sin are still servants of it, which will lead to death. But those, who through the power of Christ Jesus in their lives are turning away from sin and are being obedient to God's commandments will get the victory over sin, and are servants of righteousness, which leads to eternal life.

Why is the Gospel Important?

Revelation 16:15 ...'Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.' ... Those garments are the garments of Christ's righteousness, which those who believe and follow Christ will wear. But those who continue in willful sin will be naked when Christ returns. They will not be wearing His righteousness, and they will not be able to enter into the kingdom. They will be lost!

Now in verse 17 of Revelation 16, it says that there was a great voice heard, which said "IT IS DONE!". This is Christ saying it is done. What is done? Judgment! There is a judgment taking place in Heaven right now. All of us who profess to be Christians are being judged by our works and how we live, to PROVE who we claim to be. As James said ... James 2:17 ...'Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.' ... The judgment will show whether our faith was a true faith, because anyone who has true faith in Christ, will do good works and be obedient to God, and turn away from sin. NOT to be saved, because we are not saved BY our works, but because we love God and appreciate what it cost our Lord to save us. Our works show or prove whether our faith is a true Christian faith, or a false one.

So what happens when Jesus says it is done and judgment is over? ... Revelation 22:11 ...'He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.' ... When judgment is over, and Christ stands up to put on His kingly robes, probation will have closed and there will be no hope left for those who are still living in sin. Just take a look at what it says in revelation above. Those who are unjust and filthy (still in sin) let them REMAIN unjust and filthy.

Now can anyone who is still filthy enter the kingdom of heaven? ... Revelation 21:27 ...'And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth.' ... No, only those who have overcome sin through Christ Jesus will enter into the kingdom. Those who are still living in willful sin, will be lost and thrown into the lake of fire.

Friend, the majority of professing Christians are going to be locked out of heaven, because they treated the sacrifice of Christ as a cheap thing, and used it as an excuse to carry on living in sin. Please don't go along with them. Christ said Himself that only few will be saved, because the majority are heading down the wide road to death. That road is the "smooth", "easy" road that is preached in many churches today. Please do not go down that road, but give your all for Christ Jesus everyday and let Him help you overcome sin in your life.

What is the gospel of Christ Jesus? It is the power of God unto salvation FROM sin, to all those who believe and follow the Lord! Praise God!
