Eternal Life with Jesus

Life eternal awaits all those who give their all for Christ Jesus. Personally, I love thinking about my future life with Jesus, as it gives me a lift each time I think about the wonderful life that awaits me in heaven and on the new earth. God's Word in the Bible confirms that no one can even imagine how good it will be and what He has in store for us in our new eternal lives with Him. But that shouldn't stop us thinking about it and waiting and longing for that life to come.

1 Corinthians 2:9 ...'But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.'

I don't think God is telling us through this verse that there is no need to think about heaven because we cannot imagine what it will be like, as there are other verses in the Bible that do begin to describe what the new earth and the new Jerusalem will be like. No, this verse SHOULD excite us! Let's face it, would it be better to think about worldly things like the majority of Christians do, or think about heavenly things?

It's amazing how many of our minds are so filled with vain worldly things, and yet we have an indescribable eternal life waiting for us. "What shall I eat today?", "What shall I wear today?", "Do I look good in these clothes?"", "Wasn't that program/film good on the tv?", "What shall I do tonight, watch tv, go out?", "What did you think about Mrs Bloggs doing such and such?"

Are you serious!!?

God must look down and think, "what are people thinking about these things for? I have revealed to them through My Word that they can have eternal life with Me, a life that no man can imagine how good it will be, and yet they are still thinking about these worldly things?" This life and this world is passing away, so let's start letting go of it and start holding on to the life eternal that is to come soon.

The next time you have a clear night where you live, just go out and spend some time looking up to the stars that God created and realize that what you are looking at is a speck of dust compared to what God has created throughout the universe. And then look again at the things in your life that you keep worrying about or thinking about, and see how small and vain and insignificant they are. I'm not talking about worrying on things like feeding the poor and helping others, I'm talking about the worldly things we keep getting ourselves caught up in, and can't seem to let go of them, EVEN FOR JESUS, who gave up His high and lofty position in heaven to live on this wretched earth and die for us.

John 12:25 ...'He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.'

These are strong words from Jesus, but TRUE. Don't go and lose your eternal life just because you thought more about this life and loved this life too much to let go. Those of us that are saved and go to heaven will look back and think, "are you kidding me? I was holding on to things on earth, when I have THIS?" Stop treating your house and your car like they have some great value and purpose and make you better than someone else. Stop treating your money like it will save you, and stop treating your money like it's YOURS, it's NOT yours, it belongs to God and you should be using it wisely FOR Him and His kingdom and to help those in need. Stop treating your clothes like they are to make you look good, they are to cover our bodies and keep us warm.

All these things that we keep holding onto will one day very soon be burned up. Just imagine spending hundreds of thousands of pounds (dollars) on houses and cars and spending loads of time making them look nice, AND THEN JESUS RETURNS!! And they get destroyed!! What a waste, when that time, money and effort could have been used to further God's Kingdom on this earth before Christ comes.

Romans 1:20 ...'For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.'

We will all be without excuse if we don't make it into the Kingdom. We have been given the Bible truth, and been shown how we should live our lives ... Romans 2:7 ...'To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.' ... Are you seeking for these things? Are you truly living for Christ Jesus and longing for eternal life with Him, or are you just concerned with the things of this world? Just imagine, after we have been with God a million years in joy and peace and love, we will have only just begun eternity!! Are you sure you want to keep holding onto this wretched world?

2 Corinthians 4:18 ...'While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.' ... Those who are being saved, look NOT on worldly things, as these things are just temporary. No, we look at things which are eternal, things that will last, even life eternal.

1 Timothy 6:12 ...'Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.'

Titus 1:2 ...'In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.'

Let us lay hold on life eternal. Let us turn away from the things of this world that are passing away and are soon to be gone forever. Let us look up with expectant joy and longing for our Saviour Christ Jesus to return in blazing glory, to give eternal life to all those who truly followed Him. What awaits all those who don't lay hold on eternal life? The lake of fire and death.

I want life eternal in glory with our Lord Jesus. Do you?
